Our History & Goals
Wild Irish Fiddle is an adventurous and authentic blend of traditional Irish fiddle and masterful Latin-influenced guitar. Fiddler Dr. Kate Rose and guitarist Armand Ramirez create a vibrant sound that moves easily from dreamy background music to a fiery, foot-stomping interactive show.
Rooted in the living fiddle traditions of County Clare, the music carries the spirit of old Ireland while opening into lively improvisation and rhythmic guitar textures shaped by Latin and jazz influences. The result is a unique musical journey—haunting airs, energetic reels and jigs, and moments of spontaneous interplay that invite listeners into the music.
The show is lively and participatory. Audiences learn simple Irish dance steps, clap and sing along, and hear stories and poems connected to the music and to Kate’s years learning from tradition bearers in Ireland. Instruments may include fiddle, guitar, Irish whistle, mandolin, frame drum, spoons, foot percussion, song, and dance, creating a colorful and welcoming experience for audiences of all ages.
Wild Irish Fiddle adapts to each venue and occasion. The duo can provide elegant background music for receptions and gatherings or a full interactive concert that brings the whole room to life. One audience member summed it up best: “My husband danced—and he didn’t even dance at our wedding!”

Meet the Musicians
Kate Rose
Kate is an accomplished Irish fiddler, known for her dynamic performances and playful energy. She learned a rooted, earthy tradition of fiddle playing from older musicians on Ireland’s west coast in the 1990s, gathering tunes and stories directly from the communities where the music lives. Her performances weave music, dance, storytelling, and audience participation into a shared cultural experience that connects people through melody and rhythm.
Armand Ramirez
Armand is a masterful guitarist, blending Latin rhythms with Celtic tradition. He brings wide-ranging guitar mastery shaped by jazz, classical, flamenco, and Latin traditions. His rich accompaniment and rhythmic imagination give the music its distinctive drive and warmth.
